Hughes keen on e-Governance tie-up with UP in India

Hughes, a major company in satellite networking technology is holding talks with the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government in India for providing e-Governance solutions.

Hughes, a major company in satellite networking technology is holding talks with the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government in India for providing e-Governance solutions.

The proposed solutions could take shape of IT information technology enabled counters at government departments dealing directly with the people such as revenue records office. It can provide the medium by which the physical movement of official files can be minimised. Also, large amount of data can be transferred from one place to another in real time. The strategic areas identified for the partnership include joint efforts for delivering affordable personal computer (PC) options, ushering in e-Governance, accelerating IT literacy and enabling access to technology in UP rural areas. The Hughes director recently announced the launching of 23 new Hughes net fusion centres in UP taking their number to 29. Hughes net fusion is a satellite-based multi function centre that offers end-consumers broadband services in the areas of interactive e-Learning, e-Commerce and web-access.
