Delhi High Court is planning to install Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) in the court premises to promote e-Filing of cases.
Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) made a proposal for this and it is in the final stages of completion as reported by IANS.
The Wi-Fi system will be installed in various sections of the court complex such as the lobbies, office of the bar association and also at the court canteen. The facility will be free of charge.
There is a plan to connect the court with intercom facility with all the landline phones which would be provided by Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL). The intercom facility will help the lawyers to talk to each other on phone free of cost..
Speaking on the initiative, DHCBA President KC Mittal said that “We have identified 10 places in the court where this new system will be installed so that lawyers need not stand in long queues at the counters to file their applications”.
The facility will begin on July 1, 2008.
The modernisation process of the courts was started in the year 2003. Facilities such as computerisation of all courts, e-Courts, digital signatures and video-conferencing facility has already been installed in the court.
