Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary G Sai Prasad Gets Six-Month Extension

The Centre has approved a further six-month extension for Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary G Sai Prasad, a 1991-batch IAS officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, allowing him to continue in the post until May 31, 2027.

This is his second consecutive six-month extension. Prasad was originally scheduled to retire on May 31, 2026, but was granted an extension from June 1 to November 30, 2026.

Centre Approves Second Extension

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), under the Union Ministry of Personnel, issued the order approving the latest extension.

The decision follows a request from the Andhra Pradesh government, which wrote to the Centre on September 29, 2026, seeking approval for Prasad to continue in service for another six months.

With the proposal approved, he will remain in the state’s top administrative position until the end of May 2027, unless further orders are issued.

Tenure Extended Until May 2027

The latest decision ensures continuity in the leadership of Andhra Pradesh’s state administration. As Chief Secretary, Prasad occupies a key position in coordinating government departments and overseeing administrative matters across the state.

The extension allows him to continue in the role beyond his original retirement date, with his tenure now set to run until May 31, 2027.
