IAS Govind Jaiswal Appointed Principal Secretary to J&K Lieutenant Governor

He was transferred to the Jammu and Kashmir segment of the cadre on October 9, 2026, following his premature repatriation from central deputation.

Alongside his regular responsibilities, Jaiswal will also hold the additional charge of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board until further orders.

Transfer and New Administrative Responsibilities

Jaiswal’s transfer to Jammu and Kashmir was made to facilitate his appointment to the Lieutenant Governor’s office. His new role places him in a key position within the Union Territory’s administration, supporting the Lieutenant Governor on official and administrative matters.

The additional responsibility of CEO of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board will place him in charge of another important administrative assignment alongside his principal duties.

Vacancy Following CBSE Appointment

The post of Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor became vacant after Mandeep K. Bhandari, a 2001-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre, was appointed Chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on September 25, 2026.

Jaiswal’s appointment fills the vacancy and brings a new officer into the Lieutenant Governor’s administrative team.
