Ekroop Caur, a 2001-batch Karnataka cadre IAS officer, has been empanelled for appointment to Additional Secretary or equivalent-level posts in the Government of India.
The approval was given by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), as conveyed through an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on September 28, 2026.
Currently With Finance Ministry
Caur is presently serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance. The Department of Expenditure’s official directory lists her as Joint Secretary in its Public Finance Central-II division.
She has been working in the department since September 2025 and was appointed for a five-year tenure.
Earlier Served in Karnataka Government
Before moving to the Centre, Caur held senior responsibilities in the Government of Karnataka, including Secretary in the Department of Electronics, Information Technology, Biotechnology, Science and Technology. Official government records also identify her in senior finance-related roles in the state.
Experience in Technology and Public Finance
During her Karnataka tenure, Caur was associated with areas including technology, innovation, biotechnology and the state’s digital and startup ecosystem. She subsequently moved to the Ministry of Finance, where her current assignment is focused on public finance.
Empanelment Opens Next-Level Central Roles
The Additional Secretary-level empanelment makes Caur eligible for consideration for senior positions at the Additional Secretary or equivalent level in the Government of India, subject to the applicable appointment process.
Her empanelment adds another senior central-government milestone to her administrative career spanning Karnataka and the Union government.
