Sanjay Banga Recommended for CMD Post at TCIL

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Sanjay Banga for the post of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL). The recommendation was made following the selection process conducted by the board on Friday.

The appointment will become effective after the necessary vigilance and administrative clearances, along with approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).

PESB Recommends Sanjay Banga

Sanjay Banga emerged as the recommended candidate for the top position at TCIL after the Public Enterprises Selection Board conducted interviews for the post.

According to the selection process, two candidates were interviewed before the board finalized its recommendation.


Once the required approvals are received, Banga will take over as the Chairman and Managing Director of the public sector enterprise. The post is currently vacant.

Currently Heading Cement Corporation of India

At present, Sanjay Banga serves as the Chairman and Managing Director of Cement Corporation of India (CCI), where he has been leading the organisation’s operations and strategic initiatives.

His recommendation for the CMD post at TCIL reflects his extensive experience in managing public sector enterprises and handling leadership responsibilities.

TCIL’s Role in India’s Telecom Sector

Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL) is a Government of India enterprise operating under the Department of Telecommunications.

The company provides consultancy and engineering services in areas such as:

  • Telecommunications infrastructure
  • Information and communication technology (ICT)
  • Network planning and implementation
  • Digital infrastructure projects
  • E-governance solutions
  • Smart city and connectivity initiatives

Apart from executing projects across India, TCIL also undertakes assignments in several international markets.

Appointment Awaits ACC Approval

The PESB recommendation is an important step in the appointment process. However, the appointment will be finalized only after receiving vigilance clearance and approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

Following these formalities, Sanjay Banga is expected to assume charge as CMD of TCIL.

Strengthening Leadership at TCIL

With TCIL continuing to play an important role in telecom consultancy and digital infrastructure projects, the appointment of a full-time Chairman and Managing Director is expected to provide strategic direction to the organisation.

If approved, Sanjay Banga will lead the PSU at a time when India is witnessing rapid expansion in digital connectivity, telecom infrastructure and technology-driven public services.
