In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Maharashtra government has issued fresh transfer orders for several IAS officers, realigning leadership in key districts and departments. The move is seen as an effort to balance governance priorities between urban and rural regions, while utilizing the diverse experience of senior bureaucrats.
Raghunath Gawade (IAS:SCS:2011), currently serving as Collector of Parbhani, has been appointed Additional Controller of Stamps, Mumbai. Known for his proactive handling of rural development schemes and law-and-order issues in Parbhani, IAS Gawade now transitions to a critical urban administrative post in the state capital.
Sanjay Chavan (IAS:SCS:2011), who previously served as Additional Controller of Stamps, Mumbai, has been reassigned as Collector of Parbhani, effectively succeeding Gawade. With a strong background in urban civic planning and service delivery, Chavan’s move signals an emphasis on infrastructure and administrative modernization in Parbhani.
Former Washim Collector and 2015 batch IAS officer Buveneswari S has been appointed Managing Director of the Maharashtra State Seeds Corporation in Akola. During her tenure in Washim, she was instrumental in implementing agriculture-linked welfare schemes and improving support systems for farmers. Her new role places her at the helm of a key agency in agricultural productivity and seed distribution across the state.

In a reciprocal transfer, 2016 batch IAS officer Yogesh Kumbhejkar, previously MD of Maharashtra State Seeds Corporation, has been posted as Collector of Washim. Known for his agricultural management expertise, Kumbhejkar brings a blend of strategic planning and grassroots understanding to the agrarian district.
IAS Varsha Meena (2018 batch) has been posted as the new collector of Akola.
This reshuffle reflects a strategic balancing act by the Maharashtra government, aiming to deploy bureaucrats with relevant field expertise to areas where they can maximize impact. The movement of officers between urban and rural assignments is also seen as a way to promote holistic administrative development across the state.
