K J Patel

In a major leadership transition, cooperative giant IFFCO has appointed K J Patel as its new Managing Director, following the completion of U S Awasthi’s term on Thursday. The announcement was made by IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani in an official statement.

Patel, who previously served as Director (Technical) at IFFCO, holds a mechanical engineering degree from Saurashtra University and brings over 32 years of extensive experience in the maintenance of nitrogenous and phosphatic fertiliser plants. He was heading the Paradeep unit—India’s largest complex fertiliser plant.

“Patel brings deep industry knowledge and a strategic vision that resonates with IFFCO’s future growth objectives,” Sanghani stated, expressing the board’s confidence in Patel’s ability to lead the cooperative into a new era of innovation and value creation.

Sanghani also extended heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing MD, U S Awasthi, for his decades-long service and invaluable contribution to IFFCO and the farming community across India.

The announcement comes on the heels of a strong financial year for IFFCO, which recorded a 16% rise in net profit to ₹2,823 crore and a 4.5% increase in turnover to ₹41,244 crore, driven by higher sales of conventional soil nutrients, nano liquid urea, and nano liquid DAP. In the previous fiscal year (2023–24), the cooperative had reported a net profit of ₹2,443 crore and a turnover of ₹39,474 crore.
