Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a series of development projects in Yamunanagar, Haryana, reaffirming the government’s commitment to accelerating growth under the vision of “Viksit Haryana for Viksit Bharat.”
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of electricity as a catalyst for national development. He reiterated that the government’s objective is to ensure uninterrupted power supply across the country, thereby eliminating energy shortages as a hindrance to progress. In this context, he spotlighted the PM Suryagarh Muft Bijli Yojana, a transformative initiative aimed at empowering citizens through solar energy.
Under this scheme, households are encouraged to install solar panels on their rooftops, enabling them to significantly reduce—if not eliminate—their electricity bills. The initiative also provides an opportunity to generate income by selling surplus electricity back to the grid. Over 1.25 crore registrations have already been recorded nationwide, including lakhs from Haryana, showcasing widespread enthusiasm for the scheme.

Prime Minister Modi noted that the scheme is not only reducing financial burdens on families but is also fueling a new ecosystem of services in the renewable energy sector. This is creating jobs, promoting MSMEs, and providing new opportunities for youth, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas.

Further strengthening the power infrastructure, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for an 800 MW unit at the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant in Yamunanagar. Spanning 233 acres and constructed at an estimated cost of ₹8,470 crore, this new unit is expected to significantly enhance Haryana’s energy self-reliance and ensure consistent electricity supply to both households and industries.

In addition to power-focused initiatives, the Prime Minister also launched a Compressed Biogas Plant in Mukarabpur, under the GOBARDhan Yojana. With an annual production capacity of 2,600 metric tonnes, this facility aims to manage organic waste efficiently while contributing to sustainable energy generation and environmental conservation.

PM Modi also inaugurated the 14.4 km Rewari Bypass, developed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana at a cost of ₹1,070 crore. This project will help decongest Rewari city and reduce travel time between Delhi and Narnaul by approximately one hour, thereby boosting regional connectivity and economic activity.
Throughout his address, the Prime Minister underscored the government’s commitment to inclusive development by enhancing electricity access, supporting small-scale industries, and improving agricultural productivity. He emphasized that schemes like PM Suryagarh Muft Bijli Yojana are central to the vision of a self-reliant and developed India, enabling citizens to not only consume but also produce energy.
Senior dignitaries, including the Chief Minister of Haryana Shri Nayab Singh Saini and Union Ministers Shri Manohar Lal, Shri Rao Inderjit Singh, and Shri Krishan Pal Gurja,r were present during the event.
