In a significant development aimed at enhancing India’s digital infrastructure, RailTel Corporation of India Ltd has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NBCC (India) Ltd for strategic collaboration in the development and execution of Data Centre projects, both within the country and internationally.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Sanjai Kumar, CMD, RailTel; K P Mahadevaswamy, CMD, NBCC; Raj Kumar Chaudhary, CMD, NHPC; Dr Devesh Tyagi, CEO, NIXI; Sanjay Kumar Tyagi, IPS, Additional CP, Delhi; Rajeev Ranjan (Retd IAS, TN); and senior officials from their respective organizations.

As per the agreement, RailTel and NBCC will work in tandem to execute Data Centre projects from concept to commissioning by leveraging their respective core strengths. RailTel will be responsible for end-to-end IT infrastructure services, including planning, design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and operations & maintenance of IT systems—covering computing hardware, security systems, networking, and disaster recovery mechanisms.

NBCC will manage the civil and passive infrastructure aspects, offering comprehensive project management services such as contract administration, construction supervision, cost control, quality assurance, and final project handover.

The scope of collaboration also extends to international markets, with targeted regions including Vietnam, Mauritius, UAE, and select African countries. Each international project will be governed by a separate agreement, with provisions for third-party participation when mutually agreed upon.

This partnership lays the foundation for a long-term strategic framework, enabling both RailTel and NBCC to synergise capabilities for shared growth and innovation in the rapidly advancing digital infrastructure ecosystem.
