Marking a major milestone in the advancement of education and skill development, upGrad, Asia’s leading organization in skilling and lifelong learning, has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra. This collaboration aims to create AI Excellence Centers across the state, equipping over one million students with state-of-the-art expertise in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. Announced at Davos in the esteemed presence of Honorable Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and upGrad Co-founder Ronnie Screwvala, the initiative is supported by a substantial investment of INR 2,150 crore.

Key Objectives of the Partnership

1. Advanced Hybrid Programs with ATLAS SkillTech University:
   The upGrad-supported ATLAS SkillTech University will develop innovative hybrid programs in cutting-edge fields like design, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, gaming, and technology. These programs will be implemented under Maharashtra’s prestigious State University of Eminence initiative.

2. ‘Educity’ Vision with Global University Partnerships:
   As part of CM Devendra Fadnavis’s visionary ‘Educity’ project, the collaboration includes the establishment of an urban university and campus hubs in partnership with three globally renowned universities. This project aims to position Maharashtra as a premier destination for globally benchmarked higher education.

3. Empowering Rural Youth and Entrepreneurs:
   A significant focus of the initiative is on rural empowerment, targeting 250,000 young individuals from underserved areas. The project will address talent gaps, provide training to professionals, and develop rural entrepreneurship, enhancing socio-economic growth across the state.
