Sabarimala Pilgrims Get Sabari Portal and WhatsApp Chatbot

Pilgrims heading to Sabarimala this season can find queue status, bus and train timings, official shop prices and a complaint desk in one place. The Pathanamthitta District Administration has expanded its Sabari Portal and a WhatsApp chatbot into a single digital help platform ahead of the Mandala-Makaravilakku season, which opens in mid-November, The Hindu reported on 4 November 2026.

The platform is run with the District Disaster Management Authority and adds to Kerala’s push to move citizen services online, after steps such as the Home Minister’s office moving petitions online.

What the Sabarimala Sabari Portal offers

The portal describes itself as the official digital coordination platform of the district administration for pilgrim facilitation, crowd monitoring and temple-area operations. Its public pages need no sign-in and cover:

  • Virtual queue and spot booking information, with slots, documents and booking steps
  • A Sabari Map of toilets, drinking water, parking and hospitals along the route
  • Daily pooja timings, KSRTC bus schedules and special train timetables from Chengannur, Thiruvalla and Kottayam
  • Notices and advisories on weather, forest and traffic conditions
  • Official maximum prices for food, bakery items, juice and utensils, so pilgrims can check a bill
  • Forms to report a missing person or item

Live readings from the control rooms

A live operations panel shows darshan wait time at the Sannidhanam, weather at Sannidhanam, Pampa and Nilakkal, and the storage level of the Pamba reservoir. Control rooms and monitoring stations enter the readings, which refresh about every two minutes. A route view from Nilakkal to the Sannidhanam shows crowd levels, waiting times and nearby medical, water and toilet points at each waypoint.

WhatsApp chatbot and grievance tracking

Pilgrims can send “hai” to the Sabari Chat Bot on WhatsApp (+91 94009 67300) at any hour. Complaints about problems at Nilakkal, Pampa or the Sannidhanam can be filed on the portal without a login. The complaint goes to the Integrated Control Room nearest the user’s location, the user gets a token number on WhatsApp, and a message follows when action is taken. Sending “Track” with the token number shows the latest status.

The same help desk also shows government duty staff their own posting details, such as duty point, dates and order number, when their registered number matches the staff record. Under the portal’s privacy policy, WhatsApp messages and phone numbers are deleted automatically after seven days, and the public website uses no advertising or tracking cookies.

According to Malayala Manorama, the platform was designed by Ajith Sreenivas, a junior superintendent at the Pathanamthitta Collectorate, and revenue inspector B. Yagesh.

Why it matters

Sabarimala draws very large crowds over a short season, and information has often been spread across separate department notices and helplines. Putting live crowd data, transport, prices and complaints on one platform with WhatsApp access gives pilgrims a single point of contact and gives officials a record of every complaint. It follows other recent work on single-window citizen services, such as Bihar’s UPYOG portal for urban local bodies, and Kerala’s wider digital governance record, including the Kerala High Court’s national e-governance award and the ongoing K-SMART rollout for local bodies.

Key takeaways

  • Pathanamthitta’s Sabari Portal (sabariportaldcpta.in) brings Sabarimala pilgrim services onto one platform.
  • Live darshan wait time, weather and route crowd levels refresh about every two minutes.
  • Complaints go to the nearest Integrated Control Room and can be tracked by token on WhatsApp.
