New Delhi: Odisha is stepping up efforts to attract semiconductor and electronics manufacturing investments, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi highlighting the state’s policy support, proposed infrastructure and ongoing projects at a press interaction during SEMICON India 2026 in New Delhi.
CM Majhi highlighted the Union government’s approval of ₹1.275 lakh crore for Semicon 2.0, aimed at strengthening India’s semiconductor design, manufacturing, research and supply-chain ecosystem. He said Odisha is seeking to align its state-level initiatives with the national semiconductor programme and has approved the third amendment to its Semiconductor Manufacturing and Fabless Policy. Under the amended framework, eligible projects approved under the India Semiconductor Mission can receive an additional 25% capex support from the state, alongside central assistance.

The Chief Minister said discussions were held with around 10–12 companies from different countries during the state’s investor outreach, covering semiconductor investments, technology partnerships and available incentives. Odisha has so far approved five semiconductor projects, with total proposed investments exceeding ₹10,899 crore, according to state and industry reports.
CM Majhi also outlined plans for the proposed Odisha Silicon Valley between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, for which around 800 acres of land is being arranged. The state is positioning the project as a hub for semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, while continuing work on projects already under implementation. He said Odisha aims to develop an integrated ecosystem spanning semiconductor manufacturing, electronics, technology and supporting industries.
