The West Bengal Government has carried out an administrative reshuffle involving six IAS officers, assigning them new responsibilities across departments including agricultural marketing, food processing, correctional administration, consumer affairs and disaster management.
The latest postings are aimed at ensuring continuity in the functioning of key departments and strengthening administrative coordination across the state.
Abhinav Chandra Appointed Secretary, Agricultural Marketing
Abhinav Chandra (IAS: 2001, West Bengal) has been transferred from his position as Additional Director General, NSATI and appointed as Secretary, Agricultural Marketing Department.

His new assignment places him in charge of an important department dealing with the state’s agricultural marketing framework.
Smaraki Mahapatra Gets Food Processing and Horticulture
Smaraki Mahapatra (IAS: 2002, West Bengal) has been transferred from the post of Secretary, Correctional Administration Department and appointed as Secretary, Food Processing Industries and Horticulture Department.
The department plays an important role in supporting food processing and horticulture-related activities across the state.
Vijay Bharti Moves to Correctional Department
Vijay Bharti (IAS: 2005, West Bengal), who was serving as Secretary, Science & Technology and Biotechnology Department, has been appointed as Secretary, Correctional Department.
He will now oversee administrative responsibilities related to the state’s correctional system.
Rashmi Kamal Gets Consumer Affairs Department
Rashmi Kamal (IAS: 2006, West Bengal), who was serving as Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Personnel & Administrative Reforms Department and was awaiting posting, has been appointed as Secretary, Consumer Affairs Department.
Her new role will involve overseeing the functioning of the consumer affairs administration in the state.
Sasim Kumar Barai Assigned Disaster Management Role
Sasim Kumar Barai (IAS: 2011, West Bengal) has been transferred from his position as Senior Special Secretary, Environment Department.
He has now been appointed as Senior Special Secretary, Disaster Management and Civil Defence Department.
The new assignment places him in an important administrative role dealing with disaster preparedness, response and civil defence matters.
Santanu Mukherjee Appointed Additional Director, NSATI
Santanu Mukherjee (IAS: 2014, West Bengal), who was serving as OSD, Personnel & Administrative Reforms Department and awaiting posting, has been appointed as Additional Director, NSATI.
The posting completes the latest round of administrative changes involving the six officers.
