Maheswar Maji, a 2016-batch Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officer, has been appointed as Deputy Director in the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on deputation.
According to the appointment order, he will serve in the post for a period of four years.
Deputation to the Narcotics Control Bureau
Maheswar Maji has been selected for the Deputy Director position in the Narcotics Control Bureau, the country’s premier agency responsible for combating drug trafficking and enforcing narcotics-related laws.
His appointment has been made on a deputation basis, and he will serve in the organisation for four years from the date of assuming charge, in accordance with the terms of the appointment.
Experienced IRS Officer
A 2016-batch IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officer, Maheswar Maji has been serving in the Indian Revenue Service, where officers are entrusted with responsibilities related to customs administration, indirect taxation, anti-smuggling operations and enforcement.
His experience in revenue administration and enforcement is expected to support the NCB‘s efforts in tackling narcotics-related offences and strengthening inter-agency coordination.

Strengthening Enforcement Capabilities
