Appointment to the National Investigation Agency

Viswanadh R, a 2016-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Kerala cadre, has been selected to serve as Superintendent of Police in the National Investigation Agency.

He will join the NIA on deputation, where he will be involved in handling investigations related to terrorism, national security and other offences entrusted to the agency under its mandate.

Move from Kerala Cadre to Central Assignment

With this appointment, Viswanadh R moves from his parent Kerala cadre to a key position in the Central Government.

Deputation to the NIA provides IPS officers with an opportunity to work on complex, high-profile investigations that often involve coordination with multiple state police forces and central security agencies.

The assignment is expected to further strengthen the agency’s operational capabilities with the addition of an experienced field officer.

Role of the National Investigation Agency

The National Investigation Agency is India’s premier federal investigation agency responsible for probing offences related to terrorism, national security, organised crime with cross-border implications and other cases assigned by the Central Government.

The agency works closely with state police organisations and central intelligence and enforcement agencies to investigate cases that have national and international significance.

As Superintendent of Police, Viswanadh R will play an important role in supervising investigations, coordinating with various agencies and ensuring the effective execution of cases handled by the NIA.

Experienced IPS Officer

Viswanadh R belongs to the 2016 batch of the Indian Police Service and has served in the Kerala cadre in various policing assignments.

His experience in law enforcement and public administration is expected to support the NIA’s efforts in conducting professional and timely investigations into matters affecting national security.
