Mohit Aggarwal Appointed Deputy Secretary in Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas

Mohit Kumar Aggarwal (ITS:2015) has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas under the Central Staffing Scheme. His appointment has been approved following his recommendation for central deputation by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).

He will serve in the new role for a period of four years from the date he assumes charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Appointment Under Central Staffing Scheme

According to the official order, Mohit Kumar Aggarwal, an Indian Telecommunication Service (ITS) officer of the 2015 batch, has been selected for the Deputy Secretary position in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, New Delhi.


The Department of Telecommunications has been directed to relieve him of his current responsibilities immediately so that he can join his new assignment without delay.

New Role in the Petroleum Ministry

As Deputy Secretary, Mohit Kumar Aggarwal will be associated with policy implementation, administrative coordination and other key responsibilities within the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

The ministry plays a crucial role in formulating policies related to the country’s oil and gas sector, overseeing exploration and production, refining, fuel distribution and initiatives aimed at strengthening India’s energy security.

Strengthening Administrative Leadership

The appointment is part of the Centre’s ongoing efforts to deploy experienced officers across key ministries through the Central Staffing Scheme. Such appointments help strengthen administrative capacity and support efficient policy execution in strategic sectors.
