AYUSH Hospitals

The Uttar Pradesh Government is set to expand AYUSH healthcare and medical education infrastructure across the state with the establishment of five new Integrated AYUSH Hospitals and Colleges. The initiative is part of the Yogi Adityanath government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen traditional systems of medicine while improving access to quality healthcare and education.

The proposed institutions will be developed in the divisions of Gonda, Mirzapur, Meerut, Agra and Basti. They are expected to offer education in Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy alongside modern healthcare facilities, creating an integrated model of medical education and treatment.

Focus on Expanding AYUSH Education and Healthcare

The new colleges are aimed at increasing educational opportunities for students interested in traditional medicine while also improving healthcare services in their respective regions.

Officials believe the project will help create a larger pool of trained AYUSH professionals and make healthcare services more accessible to people at the local level. The initiative is also expected to reduce the need for students from smaller towns and rural areas to relocate to major cities for medical education.

The government sees the expansion as an important step towards strengthening India’s traditional healthcare systems and integrating them with contemporary medical practices.

Land Identified Across Five Divisions

According to the AYUSH Department, land has been identified for all five proposed institutions following directions from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

In Devipatan Division, around 14.82 acres of land has been earmarked in Kodar village of Gonda district. In Mirzapur Division, approximately 13.83 acres has been identified in Akodhi village.

For Meerut Division, about 11 acres has been selected in Saidpur Husainpur Dalna village of Ghaziabad district. In Agra Division, nearly 13.5 acres has been identified in Akbara village, while in Basti Division, around 15 acres has been earmarked in Jogapur village.

Officials said the land transfer process has already been completed in four divisions, while formalities related to the Basti project are nearing completion.

Institutions to Serve as Centres of Research

The upcoming colleges are planned not only as teaching institutions but also as centres for research and innovation in traditional medicine.

The government intends to promote research in areas such as Ayurvedic formulations, Yoga-based therapies, lifestyle management and other traditional treatment systems. The objective is to strengthen AYUSH practices through scientific studies and evidence-based approaches.

Officials believe this will help enhance the credibility and acceptance of traditional healthcare systems while encouraging innovation in the sector.

Modern Facilities Planned

The proposed institutions will be equipped with hospitals, advanced laboratories, research centres and training facilities to provide students with practical and clinical exposure.

The integrated model is expected to offer both education and healthcare services under one campus, creating a comprehensive ecosystem for AYUSH learning and patient care.

Authorities are currently preparing the blueprint for the Government Integrated AYUSH Colleges and Hospitals, which will guide the development of the campuses and their facilities.

Strengthening Traditional Healthcare in Uttar Pradesh

The initiative reflects the state’s broader vision of promoting India’s traditional medical heritage while ensuring access to affordable and effective healthcare services.
