Bengaluru, June 3: Karnataka entered a new political chapter on Wednesday as senior Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar was sworn in as the Chief Minister of the state. Alongside him, Dr. G. Parameshwara took the oath as the Deputy Chief Minister, while 12 other senior Congress leaders were inducted into the new Cabinet.
The swearing-in ceremony, held in Bengaluru, marked the formal formation of the new Congress government after days of deliberations over the composition of the Cabinet and allocation of key positions. The party leadership balanced seniority, regional representation, social equations, and administrative experience while finalising the ministerial team.
G. Parameshwara Appointed Deputy Chief Minister
Ending days of speculation, the Congress leadership appointed veteran leader Dr. G. Parameshwara as the Deputy Chief Minister. A senior Dalit leader and former Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, Parameshwara brings extensive administrative and political experience to the new government.

One of the notable developments in the Cabinet formation is the induction of Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah, son of outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. His inclusion marks his first entry into the state Cabinet and is being viewed as a significant step in the next generation of Congress leadership in Karnataka.
Another prominent inclusion is U.T. Khader, who resigned as Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly before taking oath as a Cabinet Minister.
