Senior IAS officer Sudhansh Pant has been assigned the additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI).
A 1991-batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, Pant is currently serving as Secretary, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the competent authority approved the assignment with immediate effect till May 31, 2026.
He will hold the additional responsibility during the leave period of Saurabh Garg, who is presently serving as Secretary, MoSPI.
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation is responsible for the collection, compilation, and dissemination of official statistical data and also monitors the implementation of major government programmes and projects across ministries and departments.
MoSPI plays a significant role in supporting policy planning, governance monitoring, programme evaluation, and data management for various government initiatives. The ministry is also involved in tracking infrastructure and development projects through regular monitoring mechanisms and performance reviews.
As Secretary of the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Sudhansh Pant has been handling matters related to welfare policies, empowerment programmes, and social sector initiatives. With the additional charge of MoSPI, he will oversee responsibilities linked to statistical administration and programme implementation during the interim period.
The Department of Personnel and Training order stated that the arrangement has been approved by the competent authority and will remain effective until May 31, 2026.
Pant has served in several administrative roles during his career as an IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre and is currently holding a senior position in the Government of India.
