In a strong show of operational excellence, Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has recorded its best-ever performance in FY 2025-26, achieving a historic mineral production of 44.82 million tonnes (MT) along with its highest-ever revenue of around ₹25,300 crore.
The standout contributor to this growth has been iron ore, with production touching an all-time high of 40.02 MT—marking a 12% year-on-year increase. Chrome ore output also saw impressive growth, rising by over 25% to 1.69 MT. Meanwhile, bauxite production reached 2.83 MT, and limestone contributed 0.24 MT to the overall output.
This surge in production was matched by strong sales performance. OMC dispatched a total of 42.5 MT of minerals during the year, with iron ore leading the way at 38.26 MT. Bauxite and chrome ore followed with 2.6 MT and 1.4 MT respectively, while limestone sales stood at 0.23 MT.
Officials attribute this record-breaking performance to improved operational efficiency, better coordination across departments, and consistent execution across mining sites. The increased use of technology has also played a key role, helping optimise extraction processes, streamline logistics, and enhance safety standards.
Beyond numbers, OMC continues to focus on responsible mining. The corporation has strengthened its environmental efforts through initiatives like dust suppression systems, afforestation drives, and water conservation measures. The adoption of IT-enabled monitoring systems is further helping maintain a balance between productivity and sustainability.
At the same time, the company is investing in the well-being of communities around its mining areas. Through its CSR initiatives, OMC has been working on healthcare, education, clean drinking water, sanitation, skill development, and rural infrastructure—ensuring that growth reaches the grassroots.
Adding to its forward-looking approach, OMC recently partnered with IIT-ISM Dhanbad’s TEXMiN Foundation to drive innovation and capacity building in mining. The collaboration aims to bring together academic research and industry expertise to create safer, smarter, and more sustainable mining practices.
With demand for minerals like iron ore and chrome remaining strong, OMC’s record performance not only strengthens Odisha’s industrial ecosystem but also reinforces its position as a key player in India’s mining sector.
