Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Wednesday highlighted the state’s rapid economic progress, noting that Gujarat’s budget has expanded from around ₹30,000 crore in earlier years to over ₹4 lakh crore today.

Addressing a public gathering in Botad district during the “Vikas Sankalp Sabha,” the Chief Minister said the growth reflects sustained development driven by policy continuity, industrial expansion, and governance reforms.

Strong Push for Industrial Growth

Emphasising Gujarat’s industrial strength, Bhupendra Patel pointed out that the number of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has grown significantly—from about 1.81 lakh units earlier to more than 27 lakh at present. He said this rise highlights the state’s strong entrepreneurial ecosystem and growing employment opportunities.

Role of Vibrant Gujarat in Investment

The Chief Minister also credited the Vibrant Gujarat Summit—initiated during the tenure of Narendra Modi as Chief Minister—for transforming the state into a major investment destination. He said the summit has played a key role in attracting industries and positioning Gujarat as a leading growth engine of the country.

Shift Towards Development-Focused Governance

Patel noted that governance in India has shifted towards development-driven politics, focusing more on infrastructure, economic progress, and welfare schemes. He said this approach has contributed to Gujarat’s consistent growth trajectory.

Welfare Schemes Supporting Citizens

Highlighting key initiatives, he spoke about schemes like Ayushman Bharat, which provides health coverage of up to ₹10 lakh, and the Pradhan Mantri Svanidhi Yojana, which supports small vendors with collateral-free loans. These initiatives, he said, are helping improve the quality of life for citizens across income groups.

Focus on Local Development and Outreach

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister also met cooperative sector representatives and community leaders to review ongoing development projects and scheme implementation in the state.
