Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has appointed Ashish Bhatnagar and Debasish Mukherjee as Executive Directors, effective January 20, 2026, in a move aimed at strengthening its senior leadership and operational depth.

The appointments were disclosed to the National Stock Exchange of India and BSE Limited in compliance with SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. Both executives will serve at the Executive Director level, one tier below the Board, reflecting ONGC’s focus on leadership continuity through experienced internal talent.

Ashish Bhatnagar: Decades of Operations Experience

Ashish Bhatnagar is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Jodhpur University and brings over 36 years of experience with ONGC. He began his career as an Assistant Executive Engineer (Mechanical) in Mehsana and has since held roles across key ONGC locations, including Mehsana, Nazira, Dehradun, Mumbai, ONGC Videsh Limited (OVL), and Delhi. His wide-ranging exposure spans field operations, project execution, and leadership roles.

Debasish Mukherjee: Expertise in Materials and Strategy

Debasish Mukherjee holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Jadavpur University, an MBA from IGNOU, and a PhD in Management from Amity University, Noida. With 35 years of professional experience, he joined ONGC as a Materials Management Officer in Dehradun and has served in Dehradun, Chennai, Delhi, and Jorhat, contributing across materials management, administration, and strategic operations.

Focus on Leadership Continuity

ONGC said the appointments underscore its commitment to nurturing internal leadership and leveraging deep institutional knowledge at senior levels. The company expects the two Executive Directors to support operational efficiency, strengthen strategic execution, and advance long-term growth objectives.

The formal announcement was issued by Shashi Bhushan Singh, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of ONGC.
