The inaugural Pravasi Rajasthani Divas commenced in Jaipur on 10th December, signalling a renewed push to position Rajasthan as a major investment hub. The opening ceremony, led by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, featured a groundbreaking event for investment proposals exceeding ₹1 lakh crore—an announcement the government described as a decisive step toward accelerated industrial expansion across the state.
In a bid to strengthen ties with the global Rajasthani community, the state unveiled the NRR Policy-2025 aimed at overseas Rajasthanis along with the Rajasthan Development Support Portal, a digital platform designed to allow non-resident Rajasthanis to directly engage with development projects back home. The government said the portal would streamline communication, encourage participation, and mobilise diaspora-driven initiatives.
Addressing the gathering, the chief minister emphasised Rajasthan’s commitment to integrating its diaspora into the state’s growth trajectory. He noted that the newly created Department of National and International Overseas Rajasthani Affairs would ensure structured engagement and provide a single-window mechanism for overseas Rajasthanis seeking to contribute to developmental efforts. Calling upon the diaspora to act as benefactors, he assured full administrative backing for their participation in state-building.
Seeking to amplify investor confidence, the government rolled out twelve new policies spanning key sectors including industrial promotion, technology advancement, tourism, trade, green development, food processing, aerospace and defence, sports, outsourcing, agro-forestry, artificial intelligence, and vehicle scrappage. Officials said these policies would create a predictable regulatory environment, accelerate approvals, and establish Rajasthan as a competitive destination for domestic and global investors.
Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, speaking at the event, said Rajasthan’s natural advantages—land availability, energy capacity, water resources, raw material access, and strong safety indicators—had positioned the state as a promising investment corridor. Industries Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore underscored reforms in the ease of doing business, pointing to improved transparency and swifter decision-making as key enablers for industry.
A major corporate announcement added momentum to the inaugural session, with the Vedanta Group unveiling plans to set up a large industrial park in the state. Vedanta Chairperson Anil Agarwal highlighted Rajasthan’s mineral wealth, remarking that the state had the potential to serve global mineral needs much like Punjab serves as the nation’s food bowl. The proposed industrial park is expected to accommodate units with investments ranging from ₹2 crore to ₹200 crore, creating opportunities for both medium and large-scale enterprises.
The government also felicitated leading industrialists including Anil Agarwal, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Vineet Mittal, Ajay Piramal and Madhav Singhania for their contributions to India’s industry landscape and their association with Rajasthan’s development narrative.

The event, however, was marred by a political row after videos of empty chairs at the venue circulated on social media. Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra shared a clip online, alleging it exposed what he called “empty promises and hollow achievements.” Responding to the criticism, Industries Minister Rathore remarked that the opposition was “only looking for empty chairs” while the government focused on building confidence among investors and young entrepreneurs. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel also dismissed the allegations, stating the hall was full and accusing the opposition of circulating misleading visuals.
As the first edition of Pravasi Rajasthani Divas concluded its inaugural session, officials projected optimism that the event would evolve into a flagship platform for mobilising diaspora engagement, securing investments, and reinforcing Rajasthan’s economic ambitions.
