The DACE Vision: Digital Access for Community Empowerment
DUK’s approach to social transformation is exemplified by its Digital Access for Community Empowerment (DACE) program, a mandatory component of student training. Through participatory rural appraisal, fieldwork, and community immersion, students co-design tech-driven solutions to real-world challenges faced by marginalized communities. From ocean literacy campaigns in coastal villages to mobile applications for rural health and education, DACE nurtures empathy-driven innovation and civic engagement.
Workshops under DACE include training in report writing, field ethics, and rural development technologies, led by seasoned community development practitioners. DACE projects have also been recognized by corporate partners like Allianz for their social innovation impact.
Innovation and Incubation at Scale
Digital University Kerala is redefining what a modern research university can be. Anchored by vibrant Centres of Excellence, DUK empowers students to ideate, prototype, and scale transformative solutions:
- Kerala Blockchain Academy (KBA) trains students in enterprise blockchain systems, with full placement in PM-AJAY PG Diploma batches. Projects include blockchain for vaccine tracking, land records, and chatbots like Changaathi.
- Centre for Digital Innovation and Product Development (CDIPD) delivers critical digital infrastructure for government and industry. Flagship projects include e-Samrudha (livestock), Digital Workforce Management, SDG Analytics Dashboards, and the Wayanad Rehabilitation Portal.
- India Innovation Centre for Graphene (IICG), in partnership with C-MET and Tata Steel, pioneers next-gen graphene-based devices, from supercapacitors to tactile sensors.
- DUK has earned a 4-Star rating from the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Council (IIC)—a distinction held by only 24 institutions in the South-West zone.

- A new Administrative Block with advanced conference spaces is nearing completion.

- Most notably, DUK is the implementing agency for the 1,515 crore Digital Science Park—a national hub for research, incubation, and innovation in AI, Blockchain, and Graphene.
- This infrastructure positions DUK as a truly future-ready campus, where physical, digital, and social learning environments are seamlessly integrated.
