C-DAC and ICAT

In a major boost to India’s self-reliant mobility ecosystem, the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop, test, and certify indigenous automotive technologies. The collaboration aims to reduce dependence on foreign systems and accelerate India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat in the automotive sector.

The MoU was signed during the Traffic InfraTech Expo 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, in the presence of Sunita Verma, Group Coordinator (R&D in Electronics & IT), MeitY; Dr. Saurabh Dalela, Director, ICAT; Dr. P. R. Lakshmi Eswari, Centre Head, C-DAC Hyderabad; along with senior officials from government and industry.

The partnership focuses on joint R&D, development of testing standards, and cybersecurity solutions for the automotive sector. It also seeks to identify new research areas and emerging business opportunities in the evolving mobility landscape.

Under the agreement, ICAT will collaborate with the automotive industry to define technical requirements, while C-DAC will design and develop indigenous solutions aligned to those needs. C-DAC will lead innovation and development for new technologies, and ICAT will handle testing, validation, and certification, ensuring industry linkages with end-user automobile companies.
