Essar Capital appoints Amit Bajaj as Managing Director & Global Head of Corporate Affairs and Public Policy

Essar Capital has named Amit Bajaj as its new Managing Director and Global Head of Corporate Affairs and Public Policy, effective today. The appointment highlights Essar’s intent to strengthen its global presence and forge deeper strategic partnerships.

With over 25 years of experience in corporate affairs and government relations, Bajaj brings expertise in navigating complex regulatory frameworks across Asia-Pacific, North America, and Europe. His career spans key sectors including energy, infrastructure, and metals and mining.

Bajaj returns to Essar after serving as Senior President of Corporate Affairs at the Aditya Birla Group, where he played a pivotal role in aligning policy strategies with global business goals. He previously held leadership roles at Essar from 2004 to 2014.

Prashant Ruia, Director of Essar Group, described Bajaj as an “ideal leader” to guide public policy and stakeholder engagement, citing his deep understanding of the global regulatory landscape.

In his new role, Bajaj will lead Essar’s worldwide corporate affairs strategies and policy advocacy, supporting initiatives in renewable energy, green mobility, and innovative infrastructure.
