The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Wednesday issued several key notifications, including the appointment of Prince Dhawan (IAS: 2012, AGMUT cadre) as Executive Director of REC Ltd for a three-year term. His appointment comes as part of a series of key administrative decisions notified on Wednesday.

Dhawan, an officer known for his expertise in governance and technology-driven reforms, brings with him over a decade of diverse administrative experience across Delhi and Arunachal Pradesh. Most recently, he served as Deputy Commissioner of West Delhi, where he oversaw critical functions including urban management, disaster preparedness, and public service delivery.

Before this, he held dual responsibilities as Special Secretary, IT, Government of Delhi (2020–2023), spearheading technology-led governance initiatives, while also discharging duties as Deputy Commissioner in Delhi’s administrative setup. His tenure in the Government of Arunachal Pradesh (2017–2020) as Deputy Commissioner in Itanagar and Lohit districts was marked by his work in rural development, budgeting, and citizen engagement, particularly in geographically challenging terrains.

An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, Dhawan holds degrees in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. He further enhanced his policy expertise with an LLB from Chaudhary Charan Singh University and has also pursued a Master’s in Public Administration and International Development at Harvard University, with a focus on economics and finance.

Known for combining field-level administrative acumen with strong technical and policy skills, Dhawan is expected to play a pivotal role in steering REC’s mission of financing and strengthening India’s power sector in alignment with the country’s clean energy and infrastructure goals.

Dr. Ajit Kumar Mohanty, Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission, has received a six-month extension of tenure, effective 11 October 2025.

Ashwin Shenvi (IPS: 2006: HY), Joint Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), has been granted a one-year extension beyond 6 September 2025.

Satish Kumar (Retd IRMS: 1986) will continue as Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board on a contract basis for one year, starting 1 September 2025.
