UIDAI records 229.33 Crore Aadhaar Authentications in June 2025, Face Authentication hits historic high

In a powerful indicator of India’s accelerating digital adoption, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) reported 229.33 crore Aadhaar authentication transactions in June 2025, reflecting a 7.8% year-on-year growth from June 2024. The total number of Aadhaar-based authentication transactions has now surpassed 15,452 crore since the system’s inception—reinforcing Aadhaar’s status as the foundational digital ID across governance, finance, and welfare delivery.


Face Authentication Surges to Record 15.87 Crore in June

AI-powered Aadhaar Face Authentication saw unprecedented adoption with 15.87 crore transactions in June 2025—nearly 3.4 times higher than the 4.61 crore recorded in June 2024. Cumulatively, nearly 175 crore face authentications have been conducted successfully.

UIDAI’s AI/ML-driven face authentication tool, compatible with Android and iOS, has emerged as a secure, contactless, and user-friendly method of identity verification. Over 100 government departments and private enterprises spanning banking, oil & gas, telecom, and public distribution are actively using this tool to streamline user verification and service delivery.


e-KYC Transactions Cross 39 Crore

Aadhaar e-KYC services also witnessed strong uptake, registering 39.47 crore transactions in June 2025. This growth underscores the vital role of Aadhaar in enabling seamless onboarding, authentication, and service access—particularly in the banking, NBFC, and digital services ecosystem.
