Incubation Centers Supporting Entrepreneurship
A standout feature of NIPER Guwahati is its commitment to nurturing entrepreneurship and transforming research into marketable ventures. The institute has established two incubation centres: Bio-NEST and the Atal Incubation Centre (AIC).
Bio-NEST has supported 37 entrepreneurs over the past five years, helping them establish startups, file six patents, and raise over ₹3.6 crore in funding. The centre specializes in biotech and healthcare startups, including initiatives focusing on traditional medicine products from Northeast India, offering scientific validation for global market entry.

- Suriya Eye Products Therapeutics Pvt. Ltd. (Prof. S. Tamilvanan)—Innovating Janus nanocapsules for dry eye syndrome management (TRL 2 to TRL 4).
- Nutriciana Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. (Dr. Sanjay K. Banerjee)—Developing nutritional products for malnutrition from Musa balbisiana (TRL 3 to TRL 5).
- Dr. Sethi’s Laboratories Pvt. Ltd. (Dr. Kalyan Sethi)—Specializing in scaling up high-yield lutein production from marigold flowers (TRL 3 to TRL 5).
- Spraarsh Therapeutics Pvt. Ltd. (Dr. Deepak Bhardwaj)—Developing bioactive herbonanoceuticals for tumour cell photothermal ablation (TRL 3 to TRL 5).
- Maa Kamakhya Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. (Dr. Pramod Kumar)—Low-cost optimization for developing ginger oleoresin and gingerol (TRL 3 to TRL 5).
Atal Incubation Centre (AIC): Fostering Innovation
The Atal Incubation Centre (AIC) NIPER Guwahati Foundation, launched in 2023, is supported by the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog. It provides mentorship, seed funding, lab facilities, and business support to startups in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, biotechnology, agriculture, and water management.
AIC has supported 23 startups, including six women-led ventures, and facilitated the filing of two patents. It has also supported four MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises), helping them scale operations and promote inclusivity in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

- Tribal Factory (Mr. Krishnarjun Das)—Empowering communities through low-GI rice and its products.
- Alona Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd. (Dr. Subhalakshmi Ghosh)—Sell the Scale.
- Graduate Farmer (Mr. Bapan Das)—Low-cost Azolla-based poultry feed pellet (antibiotic-free).
