In a significant administrative development, the Chhattisgarh government has undertaken a strategic reshuffle, assigning additional responsibilities to five senior IAS officers. The move aims to optimize the state’s governance structure in light of three officers recently proceeding on central deputation.

The General Administration Department has issued formal orders detailing the updated portfolios, with the reshuffle reflecting a broader strategy to enhance departmental synergy and leadership depth.

Among the key changes, Dr. Rohit Yadav (2002 batch), presently serving as Secretary, Energy Department, has been entrusted with the additional charge of Secretary, Tourism and Cultural Department. This expansion seeks to inject renewed momentum into tourism and cultural development in the state.

Avinash Champawat (2003 batch), who currently holds key positions in the General Administration Department (GAD) and Revenue and Disaster Management, will now also serve as Secretary, Public Grievance Redressal Department. His expanded role is expected to improve the state’s responsiveness to citizen grievances.

Ankit Anand (2006 batch), Secretary of the Housing and Environment Department, has been given the additional charge of Secretary, Commercial Tax (Registration) Department. This move is aligned with the government’s focus on strengthening revenue collection mechanisms.

Himshikhar Gupta (2007 batch), serving as Home Secretary, will now additionally oversee the Labor Department. The convergence of home and labor portfolios is anticipated to support improved alignment between law enforcement and labor welfare efforts.

In another major appointment, Chandan Kumar (2011 batch) has been designated as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Naya Raipur Atal Nagar Vikas Pradhikaran (NRDA), following the central deputation of his predecessor Saurabh Kumar. Chandan Kumar will also assume the role of Special Secretary, Finance Department, while continuing with his existing responsibilities.
