
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a series of development projects valued at over ₹58,000 crore in Amaravati, marking a significant stride in strengthening infrastructure and accelerating growth across Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing a large gathering, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed pride in witnessing the transformation of Amaravati, a city that blends rich traditions with modern aspirations. “Amaravati is not merely a city; it is a force driving Andhra Pradesh’s journey towards becoming a leading state in India’s development story,” Modi stated, underscoring the government’s commitment to the region’s progress.
Prime Minister Modi paid homage to the cultural and spiritual heritage of the state, invoking blessings from Bhagwan Veerabhadra, Bhagwan Amaralingeshwara, and Lord Venkateswara. He extended his best wishes to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, recognising their pivotal roles in steering the state towards rapid development.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the new projects, which span critical sectors including highways, railways, defence, and urban infrastructure, form the backbone of Andhra Pradesh’s growth vision. Notable among the projects inaugurated are seven National Highway initiatives aimed at enhancing road safety and connectivity to major religious and tourist destinations such as Tirupati and Srikalahasti. Several key railway projects were also dedicated, designed to improve connectivity between Rayalaseema and Amaravati and boost logistical efficiency through the construction of new lines and modernised stations.

A cornerstone of today’s event was the foundation stone laying for major urban infrastructure in Amaravati, encompassing the construction of the Legislative Assembly, High Court, Secretariat, and housing for over 5,200 families. These projects, worth more than ₹11,000 crore, will establish a world-class administrative hub. Additionally, infrastructure under the Land Pooling Scheme, covering over 1,200 km of roads with integrated utilities, cycle tracks, and flood mitigation systems, was also launched.

Highlighting advancements in defence, the Prime Minister announced the commencement of the DRDO’s Nava Durga Missile Testing Range at Nagayalanka, a ₹1,460 crore project that will enhance India’s defence capabilities. He lauded the contribution of scientists and the people of Andhra Pradesh in reinforcing the nation’s security framework.

Modi reiterated his government’s focus on building a “Viksit Bharat” through the empowerment of farmers, youth, women, and the underprivileged. He detailed initiatives such as the PM Fasal Bima Yojana and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, which have delivered substantial financial aid to farmers in Andhra Pradesh, and highlighted the progress of the Polavaram Project, a transformative irrigation initiative.
Looking ahead, the Prime Minister announced that Andhra Pradesh will host the 10th International Day of Yoga on June 21, calling on citizens to actively participate and make it a record-setting event. Concluding his address, Modi reaffirmed the Centre’s steadfast support for Andhra Pradesh’s development journey, vowing to stand shoulder to shoulder with the state as it strides towards a prosperous future.
