In a major infrastructure push, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bikaner, Rajasthan on Thursday to launch a slew of development projects across key sectors, including railways, roadways, power, water, and renewable energy. According to an official statement, Modi will inaugurate 103 redeveloped Amrit Stations in 86 districts across 18 states and Union Territories, constructed at a cost of ₹1,100 crore. Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone and dedicate development initiatives cumulatively valued at over ₹26,000 crore.

Among the highlights of the visit is the inauguration of the redeveloped Deshnoke Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, alongside the flagging off of the new Bikaner-Mumbai express train. The Prime Minister will address a public gathering in Palana, where he will also officially launch and dedicate numerous state and central projects aimed at strengthening infrastructure and connectivity.

Aligned with his vision to modernise rail infrastructure nationwide, over 1,300 railway stations are currently undergoing redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. These are being equipped with modern amenities and architecture reflective of local culture and heritage. For instance, Deshnoke Station integrates temple-inspired designs to cater to the high footfall of pilgrims visiting the Karni Mata Temple. Begumpet Station in Telangana showcases the grandeur of Kakatiya architecture, while Thawe Station in Bihar incorporates murals and Madhubani paintings themed around Maa Thawewali, one of the revered 52 Shakti Peethas.

The Indian Railways’ journey towards 100% electrification continues, with Modi scheduled to lay the foundation for the 58 km Churu-Sadulpur rail line and dedicate multiple electrified rail routes: Suratgarh–Phalodi (336 km), Phulera–Degana (109 km), Udaipur–Himmatnagar (210 km), Phalodi–Jaisalmer (157 km), and Samdari–Barmer (129 km).

In the road transport sector, the Prime Minister will initiate the construction of three vehicle underpasses and oversee the widening and strengthening of national highways. Seven road development projects in Rajasthan will also be dedicated to the nation during the visit.
