India’s ambitious vision to become a global leader in telecommunications took centre stage today at the inauguration of Bharat Telecom 2025, held in New Delhi. The event, which brings together industry leaders, foreign delegates, and innovators from across the telecom value chain, marks a milestone in India’s journey to position itself as a hub for telecom manufacturing, services, and exports.
Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, delivered the keynote address at the inauguration, emphasising India’s transformative role in the global telecom ecosystem. Minister Scindia said, “We’re not just connecting villages; we’re connecting futures. Every tower we raise, every byte we transmit, brings 1.4 billion people closer to opportunity.” He lauded the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for turning India from a digital follower into a global digital leader, attributing the country’s progress to visionary policies and transformative infrastructure.
The event, organised by the Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) in collaboration with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), underscores India’s growing prominence as a telecom exporter. With more than 130 foreign delegates from over 35 countries, Bharat Telecom 2025 is not just a platform for discussion but a testament to India’s rapid advancements in telecom innovation and manufacturing. Over 80 leading Indian telecom and ICT companies are showcasing their groundbreaking products and solutions across various domains such as 5G, Optical Fibre, Satellite Communication, and AI-driven networks.
Minister Scindia further highlighted India’s telecom revolution, noting that in just 22 months, the country had connected 99% of its villages with 5G technology and deployed 470,000 telecom towers. “This is not evolution; it is a telecom revolution,” he asserted, stressing that India’s digital infrastructure is enabling access to healthcare, education, governance, and economic opportunities for its vast population.
Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Minister of State for Communications, also spoke at the event, emphasising India’s transition from being a consumer of telecom technology to a global creator and provider of innovative solutions. “Today, India is not merely a market or consumer but a creator, partner, and trusted provider of world-class telecom solutions,” Dr. Sekhar stated. He credited the success to the Digital India initiative and forward-thinking government policies, including production-linked incentives and spectrum management reforms.

Bharat Telecom 2025 has solidified India’s place as a key player in the global telecom landscape. The country’s capabilities in telecom equipment manufacturing, ICT services, and next-generation digital technologies are attracting increasing attention, positioning India as a reliable and trusted partner in the global supply chain.
As India looks ahead, the focus remains on expanding its leadership in emerging technologies such as 6G, satellite broadband, and quantum communication networks, further strengthening its digital sovereignty and global telecom standing.
