Gujarat IAS transfers

In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Gujarat government on Saturday announced the transfer of 18 senior officials, including 17 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers and one officer from the Indian Posts and Telecommunication Accounts and Finance Service (IPTAF). The exercise reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and improve administrative efficiency across the state.

A key highlight of the reshuffle was the transfer of H P Patel, who has been serving as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. His new posting is yet to be officially detailed.

Among the notable transfers, IPTAF officer Preeti Sharma, who was serving as Joint Managing Director at Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (PGVCL) in Rajkot, has been appointed as Director (Administration) at Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) in Vadodara. She takes over from Tejas Parmar, who had been holding additional charge of the position.

M P Pandya, who was recently appointed Municipal Commissioner of the newly established Gandhidham Municipal Corporation in January, has been shifted to Gandhinagar as Registrar of Cooperative Societies, replacing N V Upadhyay. In turn, Upadhyay has been named as the new Collector of Gir Somnath district, succeeding D D Jadeja. Jadeja will now serve as Mission Director of the Gujarat Biotechnology Mission under the Science and Technology Department, marking another key administrative change.

Vadodara’s Deputy Municipal Commissioner, K P Joshi, has been appointed as the Managing Director of PGVCL, replacing Preeti Sharma. Additionally, D K Brahmbhatt, who was serving as Resident Additional Collector in Gandhinagar, has been assigned as the Managing Director of Gujarat Medical Services Corporation, a post that had remained vacant for nearly a month.

Further, Nitin Sangwan, previously the District Development Officer (DDO) of Junagadh, has been appointed as Director of Employment and Training, relieving K D Lakhani. A leadership change has also been made at the Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA), where the Deputy Director of its regional centre in Mehsana has been promoted as Deputy Director General at the Ahmedabad headquarters, taking over from Vijaykumar Kharadi.

In the Gujarat Public Service Commission, Joint Secretary V I Patel has been transferred as Additional Commissioner and ex-officio Chief Executive Officer of the Gujarat Municipal Finance Board. S K Patel, who was serving as Executive Director at the Gujarat Council of Science City in Ahmedabad, has been named Managing Director of the Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company Ltd, which operates under the Panchayats, Rural Housing, and Rural Development Department.

Notably, four women officers are among those affected by the reshuffle, underscoring the government’s effort to maintain a balanced leadership team across departments.

This round of transfers is part of the state’s broader administrative strategy aimed at ensuring effective governance, enhancing service delivery, and addressing emerging challenges in various sectors. The reshuffle is expected to bring fresh momentum to several key departments and projects as Gujarat continues to pursue its developmental objectives under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s leadership.
