In a fresh bureaucratic development, eight officers from the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service (HAS) have been promoted to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), following orders issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) under the Government of India. The promotions come after a formal induction process conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) two months ago at Peterhof, Shimla.
These officers were part of the Zone of Consideration for promotion to IAS against vacancies earmarked for state civil services. Despite only seven vacancies being officially sanctioned under the promotion quota, eight officers were selected and inducted on a probationary basis. This decision is subject to the final outcome of an ongoing case in the Himachal Pradesh High Court.

The newly promoted IAS officers are:

- Dr. Madhu Chaudhary
- Manoj Kumar
- Prabha Rajeev
- Satish Kumar Sharma
- Ashish Kumar Kohli
- Jitendra Sanjta
- Virendra Sharma
- Hemis Negi

This latest induction pushes the total number of IAS officers serving in the state to 122. The sanctioned strength of the Himachal Pradesh IAS cadre is 152, with 114 officers currently in state service and over 15 on central deputation. The move is expected to improve governance and administrative efficiency across key departments in the state.
