Mugdha Sinha Appointed Managing Director of India Tourism Development Corporation

Mugdha Sinha, a 1999-batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, has been appointed as the Managing Director of the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), under the Government of India. She assumes the post at the rank and pay scale of an Additional Secretary.


Prior to this, Mugdha Sinha served as the Director General of Tourism in the Ministry of Tourism, where she played a key role in shaping and implementing national tourism policies. Her appointment to ITDC follows her empanelment to the rank of Additional Secretary in May 2024.

Sinha brings a rich blend of administrative and sectoral experience to her new role. From October 2022, she held the position of Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, where she led major initiatives aimed at integrating India’s cultural heritage with tourism development. Her tenure focused on strategic cultural promotion and enhancing the synergy between heritage and tourism.

As the Managing Director of ITDC, she is expected to lead transformative initiatives to upgrade India’s tourism infrastructure and position the country as a top-tier global travel destination. Her deep-rooted expertise in both culture and tourism is anticipated to play a critical role in modernising ITDC operations and launching innovative projects to strengthen India’s hospitality and tourism ecosystem.
