The Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has transferred five senior officers, including three from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), one from the Punjab Civil Services (PCS), and one from the Indian Forest Service (IFS), with immediate effect.

Girish Dayalan, currently serving as the Managing Director of Markfed, has been relieved of his charge even as the wheat procurement season is underway. In a significant reallocation of responsibilities, Amit Talwar has been assigned Dayalan’s portfolios in the Good Governance and Information Technology Department. Meanwhile, Kumar Amit, Special Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, has been handed the additional charge of MD, Markfed.

In another important move, Basant Garg, Secretary of Agriculture, has been appointed as the new Nodal Officer for the state’s Anti-Drug Campaign, a role previously held by Rahul Tiwari.
