
The Uttar Pradesh government has transferred 11 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, changing police leadership in seven districts and appointing Nilabja Choudhury as the new Additional Director General (ADG), CID. This comes in the wake of a recent large-scale transfer of IAS and PCS officers and reflects the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen law enforcement and improve policing efficiency.
The transfer orders, issued under Order No. DG-1-18 (04) – 2025, dated April 15, 2025, involves IPS officers from the 2000 to 2018 batches and spans both senior and district-level positions.
Key Senior-Level Transfers:

- Nilabja Choudhury (IPS-RR-2000), previously ADG, ATS, Lucknow, has been posted as ADG, CID, Lucknow.
- Ajay Kumar Mishra (IPS-RR-2003), Commissioner of Police, Ghaziabad, has been made Inspector General (IG) of Police, Prayagraj Zone.
- J. Ravinder Gaur (IPS-RR-2005), Commissioner of Police, Agra, takes charge as Commissioner of Police, Ghaziabad.
- Deepak Kumar (IPS-RR-2005), IG, Agra Zone, will now serve as Police Commissioner, Agra.
- Prem Kumar Gautam (IPS-RR-2005), IG, Prayagraj Zone, has been transferred to serve as IG, ATS, Lucknow.

Mid-Level and District-Level Changes:

- Shailesh Kumar Pandey (IPS-RR-2011), DIG/SSP, Mathura, has been posted as DIG, Agra Zone.
- Shlok Kumar (IPS-RR-2014), SSP, Bulandshahr, has been appointed SSP, Mathura.
- Dinesh Kumar Singh (IPS-SPS-2014), SP, Barabanki, becomes SSP, Bulandshahr.
- Premchand (IPS-SPS-2014), SP, U.P. Police Recruitment & Promotion Board, Lucknow, will now serve as Commander, 6th Battalion PAC, Meerut.
- Arpit Vijayvargiya (IPS-RR-2017), SP, Baghpat, is now posted as SP, Barabanki.
- Suraj Kumar Rai (IPS-RR-2018), Commander, 6th Battalion PAC, Meerut, has been made SP, Baghpat.
