The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Sanjiv Kumar Singh as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL). He will hold the position until his superannuation on June 30, 2026.

Sanjiv Kumar Singh, who is currently serving as Director (Mining) at HCL, was selected for the top position by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on December 12, 2024. The selection process involved interviews with seven candidates, after which Singh emerged as the preferred choice for leading the Schedule ‘A’ Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU).

With a distinguished career in the mining sector, Singh has played a crucial role in advancing the operational efficiency of HCL. His leadership has contributed significantly to the company’s mining operations, production capabilities, and strategic initiatives. As CMD, he is expected to spearhead the company’s growth, focusing on technological advancements, resource optimization, and policy implementation aligned with the government’s vision for the mining sector.

Hindustan Copper Limited, a leading PSU under the Ministry of Mines, is a key player in India’s copper production and mining industry. The company has been instrumental in supporting domestic copper demand and reducing dependency on imports. Under Singh’s leadership, HCL is likely to expand its operational footprint, enhance productivity, and contribute to the country’s self-reliance in copper production.
