The Lok Sabha Secretariat and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) have entered into a strategic partnership to introduce the Sansad BHASHINI initiative, a pioneering effort under the Digital India BHASHINI Division. This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), formalized in the presence of Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla and Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, aims to harness artificial intelligence (AI) to modernize parliamentary proceedings and enhance accessibility for legislators and citizens alike.

Sansad BHASHINI is designed to integrate AI-powered tools that will facilitate multilingual support, optimize documentation, and improve overall parliamentary operations. The initiative will deploy cutting-edge AI applications such as real-time speech-to-text transcription, speech-to-speech translation, and interactive AI chatbots. These technologies will ensure seamless translation of parliamentary debates, committee reports, and legislative documents into multiple Indian languages, thereby fostering inclusivity and broader public engagement.

A key feature of the initiative is the AI-driven chatbot, which will assist members of Parliament and officials in navigating procedural rules and retrieving legislative documents instantly. This tool will significantly reduce the time required to search for crucial parliamentary information, thereby improving operational efficiency. The chatbot will continuously evolve through machine learning, enhancing its accuracy and responsiveness over time.

Moreover, the initiative will leverage AI to transcribe spoken debates into text in real-time, making parliamentary discussions more accessible and easier to reference. This transcription system will incorporate features such as background noise reduction, customizable vocabulary, and efficient documentation tools to enhance accuracy and usability. Additionally, AI-enabled automatic summarization of extensive debates will facilitate quicker decision-making and streamlined record-keeping.

The partnership underscores a broader commitment to integrating advanced technology into governance. The Parliamentary corpus will be instrumental in training AI models, while Bhashini will contribute expertise in language translation and AI solutions. Shri Utpal Kumar Singh, Secretary-General of Lok Sabha, and Shri Gaurav Goyal, Joint Secretary of the Lok Sabha Secretariat, played crucial roles in the formalization of this agreement.
