Former Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba Appointed as NITI Aayog Member with Minister of State Rank

Former Union Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba (Retd IAS: 1982: JH) has been appointed as a Member of NITI Aayog in the rank of Minister of State. His appointment is part of the ongoing restructuring of key positions within the Government of India. Gauba has also been provided with a Y-category security cover.

Gauba, known for his distinguished career in administration, has held several high-profile positions at both the state and Union levels. His previous roles include Union Home Secretary, Union Cabinet Secretary, Union Secretary for Housing & Urban Affairs, Chief Secretary of Jharkhand

His vast experience in governance, policy implementation, and administration makes him a valuable addition to NITI Aayog’s leadership team.


Strengthening NITI Aayog’s Leadership

With this appointment, Gauba becomes the fourth member of NITI Aayog, joining Dr. Vijay Kumar Saraswat, Prof. Ramesh Chand, and Dr. Vinod Paul.


NITI Aayog, India’s premier policy think tank, plays a pivotal role in shaping the country’s development agenda. Currently, Dr. Suman Bery serves as the Vice Chairperson in the rank of a Cabinet Minister, while B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, former Commerce Secretary, is the CEO of NITI Aayog.
