In a major bureaucratic reshuffle involving 38 IAS officers in Tamil Nadu, Anshul Mishra has been appointed as the Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board. He was previously serving as the Secretary of the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA), where he played a key role in implementing transformative urban planning initiatives.

Taking charge of his new role, Mishra stated, “After a deeply satisfying tenure at CMDA, I am excited to take on the challenges in the affordable housing sector in Tamil Nadu. My time at CMDA was marked by innovative projects, institutional reforms, and strategic planning, and I extend my gratitude to all colleagues, urban planning professionals, and stakeholders who supported this journey.”

A 2004-batch IAS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, Mishra has held several key positions throughout his career. He served as the Collector of Madurai district, where his initiatives enhanced governance and citizen engagement. As Collector of Tiruvannamalai, he exposed an organized malpractice in the SSLC public examination at a private matriculation school.

Mishra also served as the Commissioner of Coimbatore Corporation during the World Tamil Conference, leading major civic initiatives. In 2015, he was appointed Private Secretary to the Union Minister of State for Finance, Jayant Sinha. Additionally, he has held crucial roles such as Joint Commissioner (Enforcement), Commercial Taxes (Chennai), and Director of the Directorate of Town and Country Planning.

With his extensive experience in urban governance, Mishra is expected to play a vital role in strengthening Tamil Nadu’s affordable housing policies and urban development initiatives.
