In a notable reshuffle in Maharashtra’s administrative landscape, Pune District Collector Suhas Diwase, an IAS officer of the 2009 batch, has been elevated to Secretary in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and appointed as the state’s Jamavbandi Commissioner. His promotion marks the culmination of a successful tenure in Pune, where he managed critical elections and spearheaded key infrastructure projects.
Replacing him as Pune District Collector is Jitendra Dudi, a 2016 batch IAS officer who previously served as Satara District Collector. The transfer orders, issued by V Radha, Additional Chief Secretary of the General Administration Department, signify a strategic shift in Pune’s administrative leadership.
Jitendra Dudi, originally from Jaipur, Rajasthan, brings a diverse professional background to his new role. His administrative journey began in Jharkhand before transitioning to Maharashtra, where he held various positions, including Junnar Provincial Officer in Pune district. Most recently, Dudi served as Chief Executive Officer of the Sangli Zilla Parishad. His portfolio also includes a stint as an Assistant Secretary in the central government.
The leadership transition also sees Pune Zilla Parishad CEO Santosh Patil transferred to Satara, where he will assume the role of District Collector. This reorganisation reflects a renewed focus on governance and operational priorities.
During Suhas Diwase’s tenure as Pune District Collector, he effectively managed high-stakes elections, including the Lok Sabha and state assembly polls. His efforts significantly boosted voter registration in the district. Additionally, under his leadership, Pune achieved remarkable progress in infrastructure development, including the near-completion of the land acquisition and award process for the eastern phase of the circular road project—an initiative expected to transform traffic management in the city.
