The Madhya Pradesh Government has transferred seven IPS officers, including the Commissioner of Indore, in fresh bureaucratic reshuffle. The list includes Superintendents of Police (SP) from Jabalpur, Dewas, and Barwani districts. Omprakash Srivastava, Secretary of the Home Department, confirmed the transfers.
As part of the changes, Umesh Joga, previously Additional Transport Commissioner, has been appointed as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Ujjain Zone. Santosh Kumar Singh, the Inspector General (IG) of Ujjain Zone, is the new Commissioner of Police in Indore. The current Indore Commissioner, Rakesh Gupta, will now serve as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister.
Aditya Pratap Singh, the SP of Jabalpur, has been transferred to Police Headquarters in Bhopal as Assistant Inspector General of Police, replaced by Sampat Upadhyay, the former SP of Dewas. Puneet Gehlot, the SP of Barwani, will now take charge as SP of Dewas, while Jagdish Dabar, Indore’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), becomes the new SP of Barwani.
In Indore, IPS officer Ankit Soni, who was serving as DCP for Security, has been given additional responsibility for Urban areas temporarily. Sources indicate that another round of IPS transfers could follow soon.

It is noteworthy that on September 9, the state government also transferred 29 officials, including 2018-batch officer Sandeep Kerkatta to the Chief Minister’s Office as Deputy Secretary, and 2009-batch IAS officer Amit Tomar to the Personnel and General Administration Department as Additional Secretary. That reshuffle also included transfers of several Assistant Collectors and District Panchayat CEOs.
