In a significant step towards sustainable energy, the Green Hydrogen Organization (GH2) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gujarat Power Corporation Limited (GPCL), the state nodal agency for green hydrogen schemes. The partnership was formalised at a ceremony attended by Gujarat Energy Minister Kanubhai Desai.
The MoU outlines a collaborative effort to accelerate green hydrogen production in Gujarat, aligning with the state’s ambitious target of producing over 3 million tonnes of green hydrogen by 2030. The agreement was signed by Arun Mahesh Babu, Managing Director of GPCL, and Nishaanth Balashanmugam, Country Manager – India for GH2. The signing ceremony also saw the presence of Jai Prakash Shivhare, Managing Director of Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. (GUVNL), and Julia Souder, CEO of the Long Duration Energy Storage Council (LDES) and Chair of the Global Renewables Alliance.
“This partnership is a testament to the growing coalition of partners committed to the vision of a cleaner, sustainable planet for future generations. We look forward to the transformative impacts our joint efforts will bring to the global green hydrogen landscape and particularly to the vibrant state of Gujarat,” said GH2.
GH2 has committed to promoting the use of green hydrogen globally through initiatives in capacity building, advocacy, and market development. This new partnership with GPCL marks a significant step towards integrating global green energy efforts with local practices, promising substantial environmental benefits.
