Appointments (GoI): Vikram Misri appointed new Foreign Secretary, Saket Kumar as Private Secy to Amit Shah

In a series of key appointments and repatriations announced on Friday, several senior officials have been reassigned to new roles. Notable changes include:


  • Vikram Misri (IFS: 1989) has been named the Foreign Secretary of India, effective July 15, 2024.

  • Manika Jain (IFS: 1993) has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Romania.

  • Ashutosh Niranjan (IAS: 2010: UP) will serve as Private Secretary to the Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar, until October 11, 2028.

  • Praveen Sharma (IDSE: 2005), Director at the National Health Authority, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre on personal grounds.

  • Saket Kumar (IAS: 2009: BH) will take on the role of Private Secretary to the Minister for Home Affairs and Cooperation, Amit Shah, until August 16, 2025.

  • Abhishek Narang (IRS IT: 2008) has been appointed as Private Secretary to the Minister for Food Processing Industries, Chirag Paswan, until December 31, 2025.

  • Abhinav Pratap Singh (IPoS: 2011) will serve as Private Secretary to the Minister for Communications & Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, until December 7, 2027.

  • Mayur Ratilal Govekar (IAS: 2014: TR) has been appointed as Private Secretary to the Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, until October 11, 2027.

  • Kartikeya Misra (IAS: 2009: AP), Director in the Department of Financial Services, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre.

  • Kuldip Narayan (IAS: 2005: BH), Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, has had his tenure extended for two years beyond August 20, 2024.

  • Rajiv Kumar Verma (IRPFS: 2010) has been appointed as Private Secretary to the Minister of State for Law & Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal, until July 4, 2026.

  • Dr. Anupam Talwar (IDES: 2012), Deputy Director at LBSNAA, Mussoorie, has had his tenure extended for two years until September 6, 2026.

  • Shailesh Shrivastava (ITS: 1992) has been empanelled for holding posts of Joint Secretary or equivalent at the Centre.

  • Shambhu S. Kumaran (IFS: 1995), currently Ambassador to Austria, has been concurrently accredited as Ambassador to Montenegro and the Holy See, with residence in Vienna.

  • L. Krishnamoorthy (IFoS: 1997: MP) has been empanelled for holding posts of Joint Secretary or equivalent at the Centre.

  • Mahesh Chandra Laddha (IPS: 1998: AP), IG, CRPF, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre.
