3rd Indian Analytical Congress Inaugurated in Dehradun, Focus on Green Transitions and Advanced Research

The 3rd Indian Analytical Congress (IAC) commenced on 5th June at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIR-IIP) in Dehradun. This three-day International Conference cum Exhibition, IAC-2024, is being co-organised by CSIR-IIP and the Indian Society of Analytical Scientists (ISAS-Delhi Chapter). The conference’s theme, “Role of Science and Technology in Green Transitions,” sets the tone for the discussions.

Prof. S.K. Mehta, Vice-Chancellor of Ladakh University, delivered the inaugural address, highlighting the newly developed educational infrastructure in Ladakh and the advanced research facilities established through funding from DST, DBT, and other agencies. Dr. Harinder Singh Bisht, Director of CSIR-IIP, emphasised the significance of new advanced analytical facilities in the energy transition. Prof. Rajnish Kumar, a Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar (SSB) Awardee and Professor at IIT Madras, presented a plenary talk on “CO2 Capture and Sequestration” and its importance for India’s net-zero targets.

The CSIR’s “One Week One Theme” (OWOT) program showcased thematic achievements in Energy and Energy Devices (EED), covering conventional energy sources, renewable and non-conventional energy systems, and energy storage devices.

The conference aims to provide a platform for industry professionals, academics, scientists, and technologists in the analytical sciences to present current and emerging solutions. It includes five technical sessions featuring invited talks, researcher presentations, and special plenary sessions.


ISAS-Delhi Chapter executives Dr. G.S. Kapur, Dr. J. Christopher, Dr. Ravindra Kumar, and Dr. Rajkumar Singh attended the inaugural ceremony. Over 250 delegates from public sector units such as IOCL, BPCL, HMEL, and institutions like IIT-Roorkee, UPES, Doon University, BARC, and Punjab University are participating in the event.
