Revanth Reddy

After the recently concluded election in several states, Telangana and Mizoram have announced their new Chief Ministers while Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh are yet to zero in on their CM’s names.

The Congress central leadership has officially announced A. Revanth Reddy as their pick for the Chief Minister of Telangana. Mr. Reddy, who currently serves as the Telangana party chief, is set to take the oath of office on December 7, becoming the first Congress Chief Minister of the state, which was formed in 2014.

The decision to appoint Mr. Reddy as the leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) was made after careful consideration, with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge giving his approval based on a report submitted by the party’s election observers.

Despite facing a defeat in the Kamareddy seat to BJP candidate Katipally Venkataramana Reddy, Mr. Reddy secured a resounding victory in the Kodangal Assembly constituency, further solidifying his position as the Congress choice for Telangana’s top leadership.

In other news, Mizoram is also gearing up for a change in leadership as the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Chief Minister, Lalduhoma, is scheduled for December 8, Friday. The Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) emerged victorious in Mizoram by winning 27 out of 40 assembly constituencies, ensuring ZPM’s dominance in the state’s next government. Lalduhoma, the ZPM chief, is poised to take the oath as Mizoram’s next Chief Minister.

According to the Election Commission results announced recently, the Mizo National Front (MNF) secured 10 seats, the BJP won two seats, and the Congress clinched one seat in the assembly elections.

Lalduhoma, the Chief Ministerial candidate of Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), achieved victory in the Serchhip seat, defeating J Malsawmzuala Vanchhawng of Mizo National Front by a margin of 8,314 votes.

Speaking about his upcoming responsibilities, Lalduhoma stated, “After the swearing-in ceremony, we will announce our top priority projects for the next 100 days.”
