The Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) has recently issued the order to assign the additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) to K Rajaraman. The 1989-Batch IAS officer is presently serving as Secretary, Department of Telecommunications. He will take over the charge of MeitY as the incumbent Secretary Ajay Prakash Sawhney has superannuated.
Rajaraman belongs to the Tamil Nadu cadre. As per the orders, he will take charge with immediate effect and will hold the post till the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

In 2021, Rajaraman took over the charge of Secretary, Department of Telecommunications after Anshu Prakash superannuated. Earlier, he had served the post of Additional Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA).
